The event with the thyme “THE INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT INTEREST FOCUS ON GREECE” organized by the publishing House NOMIKI BIBLIOTHIKI, the Organization INVEST IN GREECE and the ATHENS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY, on the occasion of the launch of the GREEK LAW DIGEST was deemed a great success by all participants. The event was held on April 4, 2012 at the Main Hall of the ACCI.
Panelists were A. Syggros, president of INVEST IN GREECE, K. Michalos, chairman of the ACCI, Prof. Ch. Gortsos, general secretary of the Greek Banks Association, C. Bakouris, chairman of “Transparency International Greece” and A. Karatzas, managing director of Nomiki Bibliothiki.
Basic discussion topics were the immense necessity to improve the investment environment in Greece by simplifying and rationalizing the business tax system, the remodeling of the legal system and procedures, the reforming of the Justice system in order to improve its effectiveness, the restructuring of the public sector in terms of transparency and efficacy, the boost of competiveness of the Greek economy through major restructuring changes, the need to increase the role and participation of the Banks to the great effort to revolutionize investments in the country, the exploitation of all developmental and investments tools etc.
According to the overall view of panelists and attendees, Greek Law Digest can surely serve as such a developmental tool in favor of foreign investors, being the most complete and comprehensive scientific report that has ever been made in the English language on all the basic regulatory and legal aspects that an investment in Greece may entail. And as the president of ACCI noted “(Greek Law Digest. www.greeklawdigest.gr) is distinguished for its comprehensiveness, scientific diligence and thoroughness…. And may very well support considerably one of the more crucial targets for Greece today: the attraction of investment in order to revive the Greek economy”.
